Emerson Wong asked:
Environmental impact is a phrase that consumers have become accustomed to hearing; it seems like this is a concept that plays a role in almost everything, from the amount of electricity consumed in your home to the amount of bottled water that you consume. However, one of the largest areas of concern is in the automobiles driven on the word’s roadways.
Cars and trucks are the largest sources of pollution in the world and more consumers than ever before are waking up to this realization. Honda has also realized this and taken action to help consumers reduce their carbon footprint, save fuel costs and do it all in style. What’s available for those who want an eco friendly drive?
The Insight - With an estimated 40 mpg in the city and 43 on the highway, the Insight takes top honors in the fuel consumption arena from Honda. In addition, the Insight offers a 5-door body, for real consumers who really have to get where they’re going, with all the associated bric-a-brac. You won’t find a high-minded, unrealistic vehicle here, as the new Insight was built for real usage in real life.
Of course, the Insight brings much more to the table, including drastically reduced emissions. This is courtesy of the 13 hp electric engine, which kicks in during light driving to take the load off the engine. Drivers will also love the regenerative braking aspect, which recharges the Insight’s battery, without putting any additional strain on the engine.
The Honda Civic Hybrid - If the Insight isn’t for you, you might want to check out the Honda Civic Hybrid. The Civic has enjoyed more than 3 decades as one of the top imports in the country and the new hybrid is a tremendous addition to that lineage. The Civic Hybrid is capable of bringing consumers about 40 mpg overall, which is a far cry from the performance of most other automobiles in the market. If you are willing to practice better driving techniques, you can even edge that number closer to 50 mpg.
The Civic Hybrid is one of the best selling, best performing hybrids on the market and consumers around the world have found the incredible benefits associated with this vehicle.
The Honda Accord Hybrid - Even the standard engine Accord is capable of attaining quite high fuel economy. Of course, drivers will not get as much fuel mileage with this model as they will with the Insight or Civic, but they will enjoy far more power and performance. Most drivers cannot tell the difference between the hybrid V6 and the standard V6 Accord.
As you can see, there are quite a few options from Honda for the eco-conscious consumer. These are only three of those available. However, you will also find that standard models, such as the CR-V, the standard engine Accord and Civic and especially the Fit can bring you a tremendous boost in fuel economy and even in the amount of carbon you emit each year (thanks to ULEV technology).
